Em Burren existem em estado selvagem 23 das 27 espécies - pertencentes à família Orchidaceae - nativas da Irlanda. Razão mais que suficientes para visitar e descobrir estas maravilhosas flores, muitas delas espécies que praticamente só podem ser encontradas quase e/ou unicamente nesta região da Irlanda tal como a Epipactis atrorubens ou a Pseudorchis albida.
Na minha primeira e única (até agora) visita ao parque nacional Burren no passado mês de Junho tive o prazer de ver espécies pertencentes aos géneros Ophrys, Orchis, Listera, Plantanthera e Dactylorhiza. Tirando a Ophrys apifera e a Orchis mascula, todas as outras espécies foram uma estreia para mim: primeira vez que as vi no seu habitat natural. Preciosidades que merecem a nossa proteção e respeito.

In Burren there are 23 of the 27 species - belonging to Orchidaceae family - native to Ireland. Reason more than enough to visit and discover these wonderful flowers, many of them species that can only be found almost and/or only in this irish region, such as Epipactis atrorubens or Pseudorchis albida.
In my first and only (until now) visit to Burren National Park last June I was pleased to see species belonging to the genus Ophrys, Orchis, Listera, Plantanthera and Dactylorhiza. Apart from Ophrys apifera and Orchis mascula, all other species were a debut for me: the first time I saw them in their natural habitat. Precious ones that deserve our protection and respect.

A good selection! You have explored well and I think you have enjoyed your visit to The Burren. You might revisit D. traunsteineri above and check. The flower head is bigger than usual for D. traunsteineri and does not show the one-sided growth which is normal. Also, D. traunsteineri has a very narrow and long central lobe to the labellum. I suggest the photograph might be D. incarnata subsp pulchellum. Best wishes, Paddy
ResponderEliminarHello Paddy. Thanks a lot for your words. Yes, I made a mistake when I named the first one as a D. traunsteineri... in the last month one guy told me that could be D. occidentalis and after some research it seems very similar to the photos. I already changed. Best wishes
